1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information when you use Better Together:
- Account information: Your email address, name, and avatar selection.
- Profile information: Gender and optional birthday you may add in your profile settings.
- Exercise responses: Answers you submit during compatibility exercises, financial exercises, perspectives quizzes, love languages assessments, and stay-together activities.
- Couple data: Information related to your partner pairing, including shared session results.
- Usage data (with consent): Anonymised interaction patterns used to improve the app. See Section 6 for details.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to:
- Provide and personalise the App experience for you and your partner.
- Store your exercise responses so you can review and compare results.
- Enable the "Blind Reveal" feature, where partner responses are only shown after both partners have submitted.
- Send important account notifications.
- Improve and develop new features for the App (only with your consent for analytics tools).
3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
We process your personal data on the following legal bases under GDPR Article 6:
| Processing activity | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Account creation and authentication | Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Storing exercise responses and couple data | Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Error tracking (Sentry, without replays) | Legitimate interest in service reliability (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Analytics & session recordings (Clarity, Sentry replays) | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
4. Data Sharing with Your Partner
When you pair with a partner, certain exercise responses and results are shared between you and your linked partner. Your individual responses remain private until both partners complete an exercise (the "Blind Reveal" system). You can dissolve your couple link at any time from Settings, which will remove shared access to session data.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides encrypted database storage and secure authentication. We use row-level security policies to ensure users can only access their own data and shared couple data. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
6. Analytics and Tracking (Consent-Based)
The following analytics tools are only activated with your explicit consent. You can grant or withdraw consent at any time via Settings → Privacy & Analytics in the app.
- Microsoft Clarity — session recordings, heatmaps, and interaction patterns. All on-screen text and personal content is masked before recording. Microsoft may retain this data for up to 13 months. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
- Sentry session replays — screen recordings triggered by app errors, used for debugging. All text content is masked and media is blocked. Replays are retained for 90 days. See Sentry's Privacy Policy.
7. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Supabase: Authentication, database storage, and real-time features. Acts as a data processor under contract.
- Google OAuth: If you choose to sign in with Google, Google's privacy policy applies to the authentication process.
- Apple OAuth: If you choose to sign in with Apple, Apple's privacy policy applies to the authentication process.
- Sentry (error tracking): Used to capture application errors. No personally identifiable information is sent; all text is masked and OAuth tokens are stripped. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- Microsoft Clarity (analytics, with consent): See Section 6.
- Sentry session replays (with consent): See Section 6.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
8. Data Retention
- Your account data is retained as long as your account is active.
- When you delete your account, all personal data and exercise responses are permanently erased within minutes.
- Analytics data in Microsoft Clarity is retained for up to 13 months per Microsoft's policy.
- Sentry error data is retained for 90 days; session replays are retained for 90 days.

- Erasure: Delete your account and all associated personal data instantly via Settings → Delete my account.

- Withdraw consent: Withdraw analytics consent at any time via Settings → Privacy & Analytics. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
- Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interest by contacting us.
- Lodge a complaint: You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10. Children's Privacy
Better Together is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from someone under 18, we will promptly delete that information.
